My Weekend (Kingy style)

Well what a weekend for me. A new experience and a wealth of knowledge gained. Oh and very sore legs and bottom. Saturday the 25 July saw me attend Crossfit (A new strength endurance type workout) not for the faint hearted mind you. A mate had been at me for while to come try out this new thing all the way from America. A lot of weights, bars and very fit people. So early rise Saturday morning for a 7.30am start. It only took about 13 minutes to complete this program as fast as you could. 13 minutes you say! Well it’s 13 of the hardest minutes of your life. The next day I rolled out of bed and looked for the bus that hit me. I was so sore already in the thighs and bum. Haven’t felt so sore in such a long time. As the day went on it only got worse. But I must say it is a sore that I love. Sick!! I know.

Following my Crossfit session I attended an Olympic Weight lifting coaching course all day and all of Sunday at the same venue. Now you might be thinking weight lifting. All they have to do is get that massive weight above their head. How hard can it be except for the amount of weight of corse. Well this is where my wealth of knowledge was gained. The amount of steps involved in coaching these lifts was numerous. Not to say technical. The amount of technique involved in being able to lift these massive amounts of weight above your head is extremely difficult but once mastered you can see how they do it and appreciate how talented these athletes really are.

So you guessed it. More lifting for Kingy. With the soreness already of Crossfit we had to also perform all the different lifts as practical for assessment. What a struggle but I got through it. All in all it was a great weekend for me in that I gained so much from both Crossfit and the Olympic Weight lifting course. Highly recommended.

Celtic FC Football Team

What a pleasure and experience. A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to be masseuse for the Celtic FC football team during their visit to Brisbane to play the Brisbane Roar A league soccer team. 3-0 Celtic FC. I had a ticket to the game anyway but then at the last minute I got the call from my mate asking if I would like to do any massage at the game. Thinking it was going to be the Roar I would massage I still said yes. But to my astonishment it was going to be with the Celtic team. They didn’t bring any masseurs with them. I was buzzing with excitement at the fact that I was going to be not only in the same room as these guys from one of Europe’s most popular soccer teams, let alone massaging them.

After the game I was like a real groupie getting pictures taken with every player, coach and officials of the team. Memories forever. I was approached after the game and asked if I could come back to do two recovery session massages the Monday after the game at the Casino where they were staying. So I went along and did what I had to do. The Monday night after I had finished, the team Physiotherapist handed me a signed jersey of all the players and a gold pendant. I was thrilled to say the least. The next day I had that jersey in to a framing place to get framed so I could get it hanging from my bedroom wall.

An experience of a lifetime.

Tigers State Netball Victory

Well what a season it was in the Holden Cruise State League Netball Championship.

It was a season of very close wins and losses and it had its tough times by not having full team turnouts to training each week due to travel times, players selected in the ANL side and a number of other reasons.

With true tiger pride shining through the girls stuck together and finished as minor premiers, most consistent team all year. Finishing in either first or second position gave us two bites at the cherry come finals time.

First semi final versus Cougars coming from nine points down during the third quarter to within four at three quarter time. The girls eventually grabbed the lead by three with one and a half minutes remaining.  Cougars hit back to equalize right on full time. This meant seven minutes either way extra time. It was any ones game during a nail biting extra time but tiger pride held out to win by one goal and advance to the Grand Final and earn a week off.

In the other semi final Jaguars defeated the Wildcats. Jaguars came out convincing victors and then had to play Cougars to earn the right to take on our tiger girls in the Grand Final.

Grand Final time had arrived. The game started as expected at a fast and tough pace. There wasn’t too much of a gap in the score at the end of the first and second quarters. It was the third quarter where the tigers stepped up a gear and lead by fifteen points during this period. From here on the tiger girls were in total control and eventually took out the 2009 State League Grand Final by seven points.

Minor Premiership and Grand Final, Well done Tiger Pride.

Second Pro Lifestyles studio here soon

It’s been 10 months already since we first started business out of our studio in Spring Hill. How time flies when you’re having so much fun.

We have had a great time building and expanding our team of trainers and watching clients grow as people and reaching their goals.

Due to the rapid expansion of Pro Lifestyles we are opening our second studio in Milton within the next 10 weeks. We are so excited about this prospect and can’t wait to grow even bigger and eventually open many more studios in the near future to help our friends, families, clients and anyone achieve anything they want for their health and fitness.

I will keep you updated on proceedings as they are known.
